Transition
A typical day in Transition is as follows:
· Children begin each school day with a numeracy or literacy exercise. During this time I will hear each child read.
· Between 9.15am and 9.30am literacy lessons begin with a whole-class introduction to the objective for the lesson.
· At 10.55am the daily maths lesson begins with a whole-class introduction to the topic or skills to be covered.
· At 12.05am the children prepare for lunch. Between 12.15pm and 1.00pm the children have lunch in the school hall.
· At 1.00pm the children go outside onto the paddock or tennis courts with other Lower School children to enjoy outdoor activities and to play with their friends.
· Between 1.30pm and 3.15pm the children will be taught a variety of subjects through topic-based work. Between two and three topics are delivered each afternoon.
During the year in Transition the children will be taught a number of topics in literacy and mathematics. Some of these are:
